BUTERFLY FAERIE

As I was sitting by the water near the forest I noticed many hundreds of butterflies flying around and entering the glen. The colors were magnificent and there were so many different commbinations of colors I could not believe my eyes. I put my book down and walked in to the glen to see where they all were going.

As I neared the center of the glen I saw a faerie there with glossmer wings that were very large and had many different colors illuminating the area. How wonderful she looked. She was surrounded by all the butterflies that I had seen enter the glen plus many hundreds more. They looked like an aura around her head and body. As they flew close to her and she reached out and gently touched each one. It was as if she was communicating with each butterfly because after they landed in her hands they would take off and go in different directions as if she told them where she wanted them to go.

She spotted me and slightly nodded her head in welcome as she continued her work. I stood fascinated as she held each butterfly and stroked them and they flew away from her and another would take their place. This went on for a long time and the time just flew because I had never seen so many beautiful butterflies and the various colors on them was unbelieveable.

Finally all the butterflies had flown away and I didn't know whether to speak or be silent as she had not said a word to me yet.

She nodded her head and spoke."I am sorry, I hope you didn't think I was rude.""You see, I am in charge of the butterflies and I was sending them out to their different places to live and be happy. " "Some places are very good for them and others are not, so I am very careful where I send my wards." "Each day , I send more out and hope that the humans will enjoy them and not harm them." "Some times the children don't realize how delicate their wings are and they will accidently injure them, and my wards will try to make it back to me, or send someone to get me so that I might help them with my magic wand and repair their wings."" Butterflies are very special and fragile. They fill the sky with multicolors and make all the flowers look so much more colorful when they land on them."

I agreed with her and told her that I would be very careful not to harm any of her charges. She bid me a good day and said that she had other fields and valleys to visit today and had better be on her way.  When she stood and started to fly away , many of her wards flew away with her. They all were a lovely sight to behold as I watched them leave the glen.

I went back through the forest and sat down by the water and started to read my book again. How peaceful it is here. No one knows about this special place I have and if I can help it, no one would ever know. I only have two friends that have been here once, and I know they would never tell anyone of this special forest and glen.
