Ornaments/Faeries at work

I had gone behind the house to do some cleaning because one of my neighbors was coming over with his tractor to "fit" the land for my garden that I plant each year. There is nothing like vegetables from your own garden.

I was so absorbed in my work that I didn't notice the four faeries that were flying toward me.  In fact, when one of them came in front of me  I jumped back. Whoosh!! my breath came out.  The wee faerie just smiled and waved her wand at me.  The others approached and I wondered why they had come out of the glen to see me.

The one that was in front of me landed on my outstretched hand and told me that the Princess of the glen wanted me to come to the glen if I had time to see what they were making.  The wee faerie explained that it was something new that the Princess had taught up and was hoping I could help them to sell them. Now my curiosity was really up , so I said I would follow them just as soon as I went in and washed up a bit.

They waited for me and we all walked into the woods. As i approached the glen I could hear the beautiful harps and flutes that they always seemed to take such joy in playing.
In the middle of the glen there were so many faeries working feverishly at little toadstool tables.

I approached to see what they were doing and the Princess flew up to me. I opened my hand and she settled on the palm. I bowed my head, and she bowed hers. I asked her what it was that she had wanted me to come to the glen.

"well," She said."My faeries came to me and asked if I had something that they could do so that more people would be aware of the good they do and so that they would know that they DO exist. I thought about it for quite a while and I have found the perfect solution. I discussed it with all my clan and they all are excited about this new project. See them all working down there? Come take a closer look"

I stooped down to see what each of the faeries was doing and could not believe my eyes. Each one was making a beautiful faerie that you would replace a light blub on a strng of lights, to be used for Christmas on the tree or for other holidays of the year. They were amazingly beautiful. There were faerie babies lying on leaves, faeries with wands that when connected to the string of lights would have their wands all lit up and in all different colors. Wee baby faeries lying under toadstools that the toadstools lit up also, Something on each of the beautifully crafted faeries lit up when you replaced them for the blubs on a string of lights.

I could not believe the beauty in each of these handcrafted faerie decorations. Each faerie did all the painting very carefully. They used their magic wands to soften the colors and here and there touched the faerie decoration to enhance it. I watched as they put them on the side to dry.

It was really a sight to see when they were being transported to my home. It took at least two and sometimes three faeries to lift one of the decorations and carry to my home. Each of the faeries also carried their wands all lit up so that we could see our way home. We looked like a caravan going through the woods.

I had a great idea for these wonderful works of art and had told the faeries all about it before we started to my home.

In the morning, I would call and make an appointment to show these treasures to a sales representive for Hallmark that I knew lived just a few miles away.

When I called him, and explained what I wanted to show to him, he seemed very excited and told me to meet him at his home that morning, before he left for work.

I packed all the decorations into a big box and drove the short distance to his home. I had to put the box down on his porch so that I could ring the bell. His wife answered the door, and with a smile bid me welcome and to come in the house.

I picked up my box and followed her into the dinning room of their home. Mr. Thomas got up from the table and walked over and extended his hand and asked me to join him in a cup of coffee and explain what I had for him to see. I gratefully accepted his offer and sat down.

After I told him about the "product" I had to offer, I got up and brought the box to the table setting it on the chair next to me. I took out the replacements for the blubs for the strings of lights and put them very carefully in front of him. I did not tell him that the faeries had made them of course, he thought I had done them. The faeries didn't want anyone to know that they had done them, because the people would find out where they lived and eventually find them. The agreement was that I would say they were mine and take the credit for creating them, but any monies that were made from selling them would go to a charity that took care of children.

When Mr. Thomas observed the beautiful faerie "blub" replacements, his smile got wider and wider. He very gently picked up each one and examined them very thoroughly. "Amazing, simply amazing,"He said. "You have done these all by hand?" He asked.

I nodded my head as I sat there watching and waiting for him to say if he liked them and if he would buy them.  It seemed like forever as he picked each up and looked all over, some of the twice. I had brought a string of Christmas lights with me and asked him if I could demonstrate how they would look. He nodded his head and said yes, he wanted to see that very much.

I took all the blubs out of the string and replaced them with the faerie "lights".  Then Mr. Thomas plugged the light string into the socket in the wall.

His wife gasped when she saw the beauty of the faeries work. Each one was unique and their beauty would not be found any place else in the world. Mr. Thomas just stood there and looked at each one and he smiled.

He turned to me and said that he would like many more of these sets and wanted to know how many I would be able to produce so that he could sell them. I explained that each of the lights was an original and there would be a limited amount of each for sale, therefore, making them collectables and something that people would treasure and be proud to own.

He seemed to think about it for a long time, and then he told me that he felt that was a wonderful idea. It would make them very special to the owner of each of them. I agreed.

He took the box of faerie "blubs" with him to work and said that he would have a contract drawn up and that tomorrow I could meet him at his office in town and could go over the contract and if I agreed, we had a deal.

I shook his hand and said goodbye to his wife and I was so happy when I left I skipped back to my car. I couldn't wait to tell my faerie friends about the wonderful deal I had made for them and to let them know that they better start making more faerie "blubs" because I felt this would be a best seller.

After my meeting with the Princess and the faeries, I went back home and got ready for my  day at work. Isn't it wonderful that these wee faerie people think so much of us that they are all willing to work hard to make something to sell to benefit us, not them.

Well, I always said that the faerie people were the best. Only thinking of helping others and never wanting anything in return.

The Unicorn/Protector

While I was sitting in the glen talking to a few of my faerie friends, in the distance we could hear a distint sound. As we listened it got louder and we knew that it was a galloping horse. I was certain that no one living in the neighborhood owned any horses and I was afraid that this one must be lost.

When this horse came into the glen he stopped and we all noticed that it wasn't a horse but a unicorn. My faerie friends didn't act surprised and they all went over to greet their friend. I just sat there in amazement and looked at him. He was magnificent. His mane was a bright green and his tail was also green and very curly. The horn on his head looked to be of pure gold.

My faerie friends came over to me and nodded and told me to come and meet their friend. I stood up and walked over very slowly as not to scare him away, but he didn't seem to fear me at all. I am sure my friends had told him about me and that they lived in my glen and I would not hurt him in any way.  I noticed a beautiful chain around his neck and hanging from that chain was the most wonderful Claddagh ring I have ever seen. It was pure gold and had a beautiful diamond inbetween the hands on the ring. It is the worlds most enduring symbol of love and romance. The Claddagh is the customary design adorning a Wedding Ring.  Named after Ireland's oldest fishing village, the emblem was first painted on the sails of the town's fishing flet before being fashioned into a ring around the 16oo's.

According to ancient folklore, the Claddagh symbolizes the everlasting love between a king and a simple peasant woman kept apart because of their social classes. The hands of the Claddagh represent friendship, the heart, a universal symbol of love, and the crown, a symbol of loyalty. The traditional sentiment associated with this Irish emblem is "Let love and friendship reign". It is a timeless symbol of hope and unity, this unique treasure is admired by those seeking the mystical blessings of the Emerald Isle.  How beautiful it was .

I asked the faeries why the unicorn was wearing the gold chain with the Claddagh. They told me that he was the unicorn in charge of protecting the Claddagh and making sure that it never was lost . That all through time it would be forever a symbol of love and friendship. He has the original Claddagh and has had it for many centuries.

I walked up closer and the unicorn approached me and stood tall and proud. I asked if I could touch this wonderful ring and the faeries spoke to him in a language that I couldn't understand and then motioned to me that it would be alright for me to approach closer and touch the ring.

I lifted it up and looked at it very closely and was so amazed by its purity and glowing quality. How beautiful and special it was. I looked at it for quite awhile and then very carefully laid it back down on the unicorns neck.  He bowed to me and slowly started back into the forest with some of his faerie friends.

Oh! what a wonderful day it has been for me. How many times in your life do you meet a unicorn and such a beautiful one like I saw that was in charge of guarding a percious peace of history of love and friendship.

I went back home feeling so happy and smiling as I walked through the forest with some of my faerie friends . It had started to get late and time for me to leave.

Surprise for Sarah

Today a very good friend is bringing his young girl to spend some time with me while he goes into town to do some banking and shopping. I have a very special surprise for her.  I see their car pulling into the driveway now.

She is such a lovely young lady and I am so happy that she has come to spend some time with me today. we stand outside and wave goodbye as dad pulls away and goes down the street.

Sarah and I will have some luch and while we are eating. I am going to tell her how we are going to spend the afternoon together. I have planned a walk into the forest and through the glen I have in the back of my home. Sarah has no idea about the surprise I have planned for her today.

Taking her hand in mine, we started down the path that leads into the forest., I told Sarah about all the animals that I have seen playing in the forest as I take my daily walks. We talked and talked as we walked slowly and enjoyed all the wild flowers and birds that we saw.

As we entered the forest, we could hear something off in the distance, and I put my finger up to my lips and whispered."Shhhhh, listen" We both quietly stood and could distinctly hear what sounded like flutes and harps playing a beautiful song. It was coming from inside the glen.

I had made plans with my friends, the faeries of the glen to bring Sarah for a visit and I could not wait to see the look on her face when she saw them.

All the faeries of the glen love to celebrate and today happens to be one of their favorite days.

Sarah's eyes got so big and wide when she first saw the faeries that she smiled and clapped her hands. Jumping up and down, she said."They are real, they are real!". I smiled from ear to ear and started to laugh. "Yes, Sarah, they are real. I haven't been making up all thoe stories I have been telling you. Those faeries are real and do live here."

Faeries were flying all around and I told Sarah to hold out her arm and open her hand with the palm side up and maybe, just maybe, one of the faeries would land on her hand. She timidly put her arm out and opened up her hand palm side up and smiled. I know she was hoping that one of them would be brave enough to come and stand in her hand.

A few of the faeries flew over and looked at us and smiled then flew away. Poor Sarah's smile went slightly away, but I quietly told her not to be impatient, this is the first time I ever brought a young girl into the glen with me and they have to getr used to seeing her.

The flutes and the harps continued to play and they went from one song to another  as we stood and watched the magic surrounding us. Sarah was transfixed by all the beautiful faeries and I was so happy that I decided to bring her here to meet them.

All of a sudden, it got very quiet and all the faeries settled down, as we watched one of the most beautifu faeries I have ever seen fly out of the woods and approach Sarah and I.

I bowed my head, and Sarah, seeing me do this, bowed hers too. All the faeries bowed their heads also, as this lovely small faerie approached us and landed gently in the palm of Sarah's hand.

Sarah was so excited that I placed my hand under hers to make sure that she kept her palm up and open so the beautiful faerie was safe.

"Hello", I said. "This is my friend Sarah and I am Janice. I had come before Sarah got here to ask permission to bring her into the glen to meet some of my friends, and the Queen siad it would be fine, as long as I made Sarah promise not to tell anyone about all of you living here. I am sure Sarah will keep our little secret, because she would not want any of you to get hurt and have to go away. Right Sarah?" I said.

Sarah was so surprised that all she could do was nod her head. The small faerie smiled at her and nodded back. It had been awhile since I had the time to walk in the woods and visit my friends, so I really didn't know this particular faerie, but by the way the other faeries treated her, I knew she was an important faerie of this clan. She had a beautiful white dress and her hair was the color  of  the sunset, curly and hanging all the way to her waist. She carried a staff in her hand that had a round ball on the top that glowed all the colors of the rainbow. It was magnificent to see.

She slowly raised her staff and all of the other faeries stopped what they were doing. All the flutes and harps became silent. As the staff was raised ab9ove her head, rays of light shot out and the ball began to revolve around very slowly. So many beautiful colors, rainbows of colors shooting out in all directions. It was a truly beautiful sight to behold.

Sarah reached out with her hand and took mine and squeezed it tight. I looked at her and we both smiled. How wonderful to be able to experience this wonderful event together.

When the faerie began to speak colors of light turned into sparkles and gently fell all around the glen. It looked like Multi-colored snow gently setting on all the trees, bushes and ground. Sarah and I were covered also.

"My name is Precious", She said. "I am one of the Princesses  of this glen. My job is to make sure that  all the colors of the rainbow always shine brightly and that after every rainfall the rainbow comes out so that all will be able to enjoy its beautiful colors. There have been many fables told about my rainbows, some even stating that a pot of gold can be found at the end of them", She smiled. "I will not say if that is true or not, you will have to decide for yourself about that one. Some of these stories are true and others are just stories made u0p and passed from one generation to another to entertain people not of our world. We are so happy that you came to see us. It isn't often that we get to meet such a lovely young lady. Most of the time we go to visit our young friends while they are sleeping and we scatter our very special faerie dust on them so they have happy dreams. So, Sarah, if you wake up some morning and you see smal multi-colored sprinkles on your bed or pillow, it was just one or two of us that came to visit you while you slept. If you see them, gather them up and put them in a small container and save them. They are very special and not many get to keep them. When you feel sad, just take a pinch out and sprinkle over your head and you will get a feeling of happiness come over you."

Time was passing so quickly and darkness had decended on the glen. I told Sarah it was time to go home and I thanked our hostess and she flew away into the forest.

As we walked through the glen and the forest, all the faeries flew around us with their wands oflight so that we could see our way out easily. Sarah was so excited and asked me if we could go back some other time when her dad had to go to town and she came to stay with me while he was gone. I smiled, and told her that it would be fine with me and I knew it would be fine with my faerie friends.

We no sooner sat down in my kitchen with a cup of hot chocolate and some cookies, when Sarah's dad pulled into my driveway in his truck.

He walked in the door and smiled. "Ok, What have the two of you been doing all this time I have been away?" He said, as he walked over to hug and kiss Sarah.

I looked over my cup at Sarah and winked. We both started giggling and then really laughing. Sarah's dad just looked at us as if we both had lost our marbles. "Well?" He said. "What have you two been up too?"

"Oh, nothing much." I said. "Sarah and I went for a walk into the woods and then we came back her to have some hot chocolate and cookies."

Sarah put her head back and started to laugh and holding her stomach as she did, because she was laughing so hard. I sat there and just smiled as a confused dad just looked from one of us to the other. Poor dad. He didn't have a clue that Sarah and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon and a great secret.
